Bios - Princess Robin

Hi,
I'm Robin Wagner, Princess Robin of Dane Castle, and I am the webmistress of the Dane Castle website.  I grew up and still live in the quaint hamlet of New Florence, Indiana County, PA.
Growing up, I was never really interested in medieval things.  Like many girls, I dreamed of being a Princess in a castle and the whole Prince Charming thing, I loved hearing tales and reading romance novels and all that, but until I met Cathy at work in 1994 that was the extent of my interest.  It didn't take long for me to become totally enthralled with hearing Cathy talk about Ren-Faires, and Highland games and all things Scottish.  Now I  love learning about medieval days and everything Scottish.   One high point in my learning is being able to watch a lot of men in kilts, and Knights jousting.  (perhaps someday there will be a joust for my honor... sigh).  But alas, I must stop this daydreaming and continue with my bio.

I graduated from United High school in Armagh PA in 1981, then attended beauty school and obtained my cosmetology license in 1985.  I worked for a short time in a beauty shop, but didn't stay there long due to a lack of clientelle in the newly opened shop.  I worked at a few personal care homes after, but in January 1994 I finally found  myself working as an aide at the Ebensburg Center assisting mentally challenged adults with their daily routines and care.   That is where I met my dear friend Cathy, and through her, I met Mike, and grew to share their dream of a castle with a jousting field and great war horses and Scottish Highland cattle also.  Due to health problems, I was forced to take an early retirement from the job I loved.  But I am enjoying retirement now.

Animals have always been very important in my life, I grew up surrounded by  the animals on my grandparent's farm.  So raising cattle (some dairy then all beef), chickens, the occasional pig or two, and numerous barn cats and our own dogs, it  was just second nature.  I even ventured into raising rabbits for pets and meat for a while in the late 1980's and breeding and raising Brittanys for show, pet and hunting in the early 1990's.  Now I am more interested in saving animals lives, and giving them the best lives I can.  I have 6 cats in my house, 1 dog indoors, and 2 dogs in my back yard, (only because the house dog doesn't allow the others in and she is 15 years old)  a 10' x 12' goldfish pond in my backyard which is over 3' deep.  (all of the cats and dogs have been rescued by myself, family members or friends.)

Once we get the barn up and running, I will also be the horse mistress of Dane Castle too.  So keep checking back for future progress on that.
