On October 7th 2006, 17 members and guests of the Clan Hay gathered at Dane Castle for the Annual Clan Hay Gathering. Graciously hosted by Mike and Cathy, a fine time was had by all. There were many delicious foods, brought "covered dish" style to be enjoyed. Due to illnesses, many of our members were unable to attend and were missed greatly.
Following the meal, a "round robin" discussion was held. Each person attending introduced themselves and told a little about themself and how they are acquainted with Clan Hay. It was very interesting to learn so much about each other.
Cathy and Mike told us about how the castle came to be. As they put it, "Two normal people should never be able to accomplish this."
Captain Robert Shaner gave us information about the Hand Fasting Ceremony and its origin, and Lady Linda Shaner told us how she met and finally "captured" the Captain. (my little joke there)
First Knight Sir Scott Rummel described how he had always loved medieval things, and how he met Mike and Cathy. Scott thanked Mike and Cathy for honoring him by allowing him to become part of their dream.
