Clan Hay 2005

This page is included to provide you with information about Clan Hay, a Scottish Clan for persons decended from family names of Hay, Hays, Hayes... as was Cathy's family.   It is also to give you access to some links to stories about the castle, links to some of our favorite sites, and breed rescue groups will be linked too.

Dane Castle hosted the 3rd Annual Northeastern United States Hay Gathering on October 1, 2005.  Approximately 40 Clan Hay members, associates and guests came from several states to enjoy our Warrior "Chef" Michael's delicious Scottish feast and his beloved wife Cathy's hospitality.

The gathering feast began with Captain Robert Shaner and his Black Watch group, the 42nd Royal Highland Regt., setting off a cannon charge to announce the start of the feast.  A blessing was given by Don Hodge remembering our Clan family who were not present and blessing those who were at Dane Castle.

11-year old Brittany Shaller was the official piper at the gathering and she piped in the Clan Hay cake, since we had no haggis this year.  Escorting Paul Gillman who carried the cake were castle knights armed with swords and battle axes.  Brittany's younger brother, Graham, with sword in hand, made the official "cutting of the cake".

Clan member Scott Rummel gave a demonstration on making chain mail, and Captain Shaner and company gave a talk on their 42nd Royal Highland Regt. (Black Watch).

More information will be added as it becomes available.
